Market Day

My haul from yesterday's farmer's market ...

Even though it's early in the season, the tomatoes were ripe and juicy.  There's a grower from Milan, IA with a booth, and I've bought tomatoes from her three weeks in a row.  I have yet to be disappointed.

The smoked paprika is from a bulk foods store in downtown Mt. Pleasant.  I think I'm going to use it in place of regular paprika in my spice rub recipe.  It smells wonderful!

Finally, three magical words - Amish baked goods.  An Amish family (mom, dad, 2-3 kids) had a booth on the south side of the port building.  They might be new, as I don't recall seeing them before.  I bought three cookies (I couldn't resist eating one on the way home) and a loaf of bread.  This gave me an excuse to polish of the last of the Easy Strawberry Jam and enjoy some wonderful sandwiches.

I'm heading to St. Louis this weekend, so hopefully I will have some interesting finds or restaurants to post about.  I'm also hoping to try out a new recipe before we leave.

Have a great weekend!
